British singer and television presenter Cilla Black passed away at the age of 72 on August 1, 2015. Born Priscilla Maria Veronica White in 1943, Black established a successful career as a pop singer through her collaborations with music producer and songwriter George Martin of Beatles fame. Singles such as "Anyone Who Had a Heart" and "You're My World" propelled Black to stardom in the 1960s and '70s. Black made the transition to television in the late 1960s, and became a long-time favorite of audiences with her own series, “Cilla.” Over her career, Black appeared on shows such as “Blind Date” and “Surprise! Surprise!” In later years, Black continued to perform and appear on television programs. She was most recently a guest star on ITV's “Loose Women,” and had recently been filming for a new series airing on ITV3. Black will be remembered as a popular, respected, and much beloved figure in the British entertainment industry.
