Christine Chubbuck (1945-1974) It is with great sadness that family and friends announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Christine Chubbuck, who died in Sarasota, Florida on July 15th 1974, at the age of 29. Christine was born April 24th 1945 in Hudson, OH and had made Sarasota her home for the past three years. In addition to her professional career in broadcasting, Christine was a voracious reader and was passionate about the feminist movement. Christine was an on-air reporter and talk show host at WXLT-TV. She was well respected in her field and was considered to be one of the pioneering figures of broadcast journalism. Christine leaves behind her parents, George and Margaretta Chubbuck, and sister Suzanne. She will be remembered fondly for her intelligence, wit, and ambition. She will be deeply missed by all who were privileged to know her.
