Christopher McCandless, 24, passed away on August 18, 1992. Christopher was born on February 12, 1968 to Walt and Billie McCandless. He was an outdoors enthusiast who spent his college years exploring the rigorous terrain of the Alaska wilderness. He had a passionate love for nature and the freedom of living off the land that he strove to pursue. Christopher graduated from Emory University in 1990 with honors and a degree in history and anthropology. He dedicated the years after his graduation to travelling across North America, helping those in need along the way. Christopher was always eager to meet new people and explore new places, no matter where his travels took him. Christopher will be remembered for his kind nature and infectious zest for life. He was a much-loved son, brother, friend, and adventurer. He was admired by all who knew him for his strong sense of bravery and independence. He will be dearly missed.
