Chris Cornell, singer of iconic American rock bands Soundgarden and Audioslave, died suddenly on May 18, 2017, at the age of 52. A Seattle native and a trailblazer of the grunge movement of the 1990s, Mr. Cornell was renowned for his unique and diverse vocal range. He was widely praised as one of the most electrifying live performers in rock music and a powerful and enduring songwriter. Mr. Cornell is survived by his third wife, Vicky Karayiannis, and three children. He was known for his many charitable works and served as the founder and frontman of the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation, which supported organisations that help children facing poverty and abuse. Mr. Cornell will be remembered for his contributions to the music industry, influence on the grunge genre, and his passionate philanthropic work.
