Charlotte Rae, best known for her iconic television roles on shows like "Diff'rent Strokes" and "The Facts of Life", passed away on August 5th 2018 at the age of 92. Rae was born Charlotte Rae Lubotsky in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1926 and started her career in the theater and performing in vaudeville. She made her Broadway debut in 1969 in the musical "Morning, Noon and Night" and later starred in the production of "Shenandoah". Her most notable stage performance was as the lead in the musical comedy "Pickwick" and later played comedic roles in "Bosom Buddies", "Sister Act: The Musical" and "On Golden Pond". In addition to her successful stage roles, Rae played memorable characters in television series including "Car 54, Where Are You?", "ER" and "Pretty Little Liars". She was best known for her roles as the housekeeper, Mrs. Garrett, in "Diff'rent Strokes" and the school administrator, Edna Garrett, in "The Facts of Life". Rae was nominated for an Emmy for her performance in "The Facts of Life". Rae was a beloved actress who won the hearts of a generation of TV viewers. She was passionate about her career and continued performing until the age of 91. She will be remembered for the joy and laughter she shared with audiences around the world.
