Charles Manson, an American criminal and cult leader, passed away 2017-11-19 at the age of 83. Manson was born 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio. After a troubled childhood plagued with crime and an eventual prison sentence, Manson moved to California in 1967. He gathered a cult following from 1967 to 1969 that engaged in a series of murders, including the Tate-LaBianca killings. Manson was sentenced to death in 1971, which was later commuted to life in prison. He spent the rest of his life in prison, where he continued to attract attention for writings, music, and interviews. Manson's life was marked by numerous controversies and a deeply troubled legacy, yet he leaves behind a devoted cult of followers who believe in his ideology.
