Carol Lynley, an accomplished actress best known for her iconic roles in films such as The Poseidon Adventure and Bunny Lake is Missing, passed away on September 3, 2019, at the age of 77. Carol was born in New York City in 1942. As a young woman, she pursued her dream of becoming an actress, and won the part of theyoung heroine in the film The Cardinal in 1963 opposite the legendary Gregory Peck. She went on to star in numerous television shows, including The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Thriller, and she guest-starred in a number of high-profile series, such as The Twilight Zone and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. In 1972, Carol starred in the much-acclaimed drama, The Poseidon Adventure, in which she played a brave survivor of an ocean liner capsized by a sudden tsunami. The film was an instant hit, and Carol received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance. During the 1970s and 1980s, Carol starred in numerous films and television movies, such as The Great Gatsby, the comedy Under the Yum Yum Tree, and the thriller Bunny Lake is Missing, for which she received critical acclaim for her chilling performance. Carol is survived by her son, her brother, and her many friends and admirers. Her memory and body of work will live on for generations to come.
