Brian Jones, the co-founder and original leader of the Rolling Stones, passed away on 3rd July 1969 at the age of 27. Brian was born in 1942 in Cheltenham, England to Lewis Blount Jones and Louise Silvers. As a child, Brian showed an avid interest in music and was proficient in multiple instruments, including the guitar, harmonica, and cello. Brian became a pivotal figure in the 1960s music scene and was celebrated for his captivating live performances with the Rolling Stones. He co-founded the band in 1962 and was an influential lead in the earliest days of the iconic group. He pioneered the use of traditional and unconventional instrumentation in rock and roll and is widely recognised as a musical innovator. Brian’s tenure with the Rolling Stones led him to receive numerous awards and fame. He also featured in music tv and radio shows. Brian’s character was often overshadowed by the reputation he earned as a notorious rebel, leading a turbulent lifestyle that eventually caused his death. He died suddenly in 1969 at the age of 27 years. He will be remembered as a creator and innovator who was ahead of his time and who loved and celebrated music.
