Bobby Jones (1902-1971) passed away on December 18, 1971 at the age of 69. Bobby, born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1902, was a world-renowned golf champ who won 13 major championships throughout his professional golf career, including the Grand Slam in 1930. He was the founder of the Masters Tournament and was one of the 13 original inductees into the World Golf Hall of Fame. He was a four-time British Amateur champion, three-time U.S. Amateur Champion, four time U.S. Open Champion, and five-time Open Championship winner. Jones was known for his strong moral character and claimed to have had only two rules of golf: "play the ball as it lies" and "play the course as you find it." He retired from the sport of golf at age 28, due to health issues. Jones was also a successful attorney and businessman, and was widely admired for his philanthropic work. He leaves behind a legacy that is celebrated in the world of golf.
