Bobby Driscoll (1937 - March 30, 1968) was an American actor, voice actor, and singer. He began his career as a child actor in The Captain and the Kids (1938-1939), and The Little Rascals shorts, Curly, Dasher (1939-1941). He later starred in the feature films Song of the South (1946) and Treasure Island (1950). For Song of the South, he received an honorary Academy Award in 1947 for "outstanding juvenile performance". Bobby also provided the voice of "Peter Pan" in the Walt Disney film of the same name (1953). He continued to act in feature films, television series and radio plays until 1962. Initially healthy, Bobby began experiencing health problems in his later years. He was prescribed methamphetamines, which produced severe weight loss and turned him into a "haggard-looking young man". A Drug Enforcement Administration citation reads: "During 1965 and 1966, he was subject to drug use and led a dissolute life, using aliases and being arrested for vagrancy". Bobby Driscoll died on March 30, 1968 at the age of 31. The cause of death is unknown. He was cremated, and his ashes were scattered in the Pacific Ocean. Bobby is remembered today for his many memorable roles and his association with Walt Disney Pictures. He will be fondly remembered by friends, family, and fans alike.
