Bob Probert, a beloved icon of hockey, has passed away. He passed away aged 45 on 5 July 2010. Bob Probert was one of hockey's toughest and most feared players. Throughout his NHL career with the Red Wings and Blackhawks, he was renowned for his enforcer role, and his many fights on the ice. Bob Probert was a 4th round draft selection of the Detroit Red Wings in 1983. During his tenure with the franchise, he racked up 935 penalty minutes in 4 seasons, earning Probert a place among the Red Wings' all-time leaders in penalty minutes and fights. He was also a member of the 1986-87 Red Wings team which won the Norris Division championship. After the 1988-1989 season, Bob Probert was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks, where he played for 6 seasons. His career with the Blackhawks was cut short due to recurring legal issues which meant he was unable to cross the US-Canada border. He was reinstated to the NHL in 1994-1995, but was traded back to the Red Wings shortly thereafter. Although his career was marred by legal issues, Bob Probert remained a fan favorite and a respected enforcer throughout his NHL career. He was posthumously inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2019. Bob Probert will be greatly missed by the hockey world. He is survived by his three children and his wife, Dani.

I wanted a perfect ending. Now I’ve learned, the hard way, that some poems don’t rhyme, and some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity. Gilda Radner
