Bob Barker, long-time television host of The Price is Right, passed away on August 26th, 2023 at age 99. Born Robert William Barker in 1923 in Darrington, Washington, Bob enjoyed a long career in radio and television. After attending college in Missouri, Bob's first job was announcing on a local radio station. Soon after, he held a job as a throwback announcer for the CBS Radio Network. In 1956, Bob moved to Los Angeles and began hosting a local version of Truth or Consequences. He also appeared as a guest on many game shows, eventually becoming the long-time host of The Price is Right starting in 1972. He served as the show's host for an impressive 35 years until his retirement in 2007. In addition to his work on television, Bob was an avid animal rights activist and supported many philanthropic causes. He was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 2004 and his career was marked by a Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award in 1999. Bob leaves behind a legacy and his impact on the field of television will live on. He will be missed.
