Marcel Hall, known widely by his stage name Biz Markie, passed away on July 16th, 2021 at the age of 57. Born in 1964, Hall began a musical career in the 1980s that quickly propelled him into the spotlight. His status as one of hip-hop’s biggest names was affirmed with Grammy-nominated hits like “Just a Friend” and “Vapors.” A lover of music from the very beginning of his career, Hall also worked as a DJ, producer, and artist in addition to his singing career. He worked with many of the biggest names in hip-hop, such as Big Daddy Kane, KRS-One, and Grandmaster Flash. Markie was admired for his wit and memorable beats in addition to his memorable beats. A true one-of-a-kind, Hall’s trademark unique sound influenced generations of artists. He will be remembered fondly by fans and friends alike.
