Billy the Kid, also known as Henry McCarty and William H. Bonney, formerly of New York City, passed away on July 14th, 1881. Despite his short life, he is remembered as one of the most notorious figures of the American Old West. After moving to New Mexico, Billy became a cattle thief, monk robber, and associated with some of the famed figures of the Wild West including Pat Garrett and John Tunstall. He was placed on trial for the murder of Robert Ollinger, and was found guilty though no evidence linked him to the crime. During the trial, the escape-artist managed to make off, eluding law-enforcement for two years before finally being killed in a shootout with lawmen. Billy the Kid leaves behind a legacy as one of the most renowned outlaws in American history.
Try as much as possible to be wholly alive with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell. And when you get angry, get good and angry. Try to be alive. You will be dead soon enough. William Saroyan
