William "Bill" Paxton, well-known Hollywood actor, passed away on February 25th, 2017 at the age of 61. Born on May 17th, 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas, Paxton was a beloved figure in the entertainment industry for several decades. The son of Mary Lou and John Lane Paxton, he won a scholarship to attend the University of Texas at Austin, though he eventually left to pursue acting. He first began appearing in movies in the mid-70s, often in supporting roles. It wasn’t until the release of Aliens in 1986 that he gained wide recognition from the masses. Other notable films include True Lies (1994), Apollo 13 (1995), Twister (1996), and Titanic (1997). In television, Paxton was recognised for his part in the HBO series Big Love, wherein he won a Golden Globe Award for Best Lead Actor in 2008. He later made appearances in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2015-2016) and Training Day (2017). In addition to his acting roles, Paxton was a co-owner of the production company F&F Productions (Formosa & Farris). He also directed an episode of the TV show Hatfields & McCoys. Paxton is survived by his wife of 30 years, Louise Newberry, and their two children James and Lydia. He will be remembered for his incredible body of work.
