Ben Cross, an actor known for his roles in popular films such as Chariots of Fire and Star Trek: First Contact, passed away on August 18th, 2020 at the age of 72. Born on December 16th, 1947 in London, Cross's career spanned over four decades and included many films and theatre performances. Among his memorable film roles are Charles Lomax in Chariots of Fire, Kruger in First Knight, Galileo in Star Trek: First Contact, and Prince Lionel in The Sorcerer's Apprentice. He also had notable television roles in series such as Cadfael, Spooks, and The Tudors, among others. Cross was highly praised for his performances and was nominated for a Variety Award for his leading role in the musical adaptation of Pippin with The Royal Shakespeare Company, and a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Kruger in First Knight. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nora and Frank, as well as his first wife Anne Hart. He is survived by his children, Jamie and Ben, and his second wife, Lara Ank Amit. Cross will be remembered as an accomplished and dedicated performer, whose contributions left a lasting impression on both stage and screen.
