Barbara Bush, beloved wife of former President George H.W. Bush, passed away on Tuesday, April 17th, 2018. Born Barbara Pierce in 1925, Barbara was 92 years old when she died. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be deeply missed. Barbara was the second woman in American history to be both a wife and a mother to a U.S. president. During her husband’s presidency, she acted as a private lobbyist for causes close to her heart, most notably advocating for literacy programs and education. Her tremendous impact on the country will live on and she will always be remembered for her engaging and warm persona, her commitment to family, and her dedication to service.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride! Hunter S. Thompson
