Balraj Sahni, one of the most legendary protagonists of Indian cinema, passed away today at an age of 59 in Mumbai. He passed on due to a heart attack. Born on 1 May 1913 in Rawalpindi, Punjab, he was a revered actor and writer who appeared in over 90 films and multiple stage shows. He is known for his critically acclaimed performance in movies like Do Bigha Zameen, Kafan, Chhoti Bahen, Kabuliwala and Pyaasa. He is also credited for writing the script of Haqeeqat, an acclaimed war film. His film career started in Lahore in 1945's Chambe Di Kali and would go on to span 28 years in all. He was a part of several acclaimed features like Bawarchi, Kabuliwala and Garm Hawa, for each of which he received numerous awards and accolades. His skilled performances and the versatility that he brought to the screen made him a beloved household name. The legacy of Balraj Sahni will live through his works and be remembered for many generations to come. He is survived by his sons and daughters, who will carry onward his unparalleled legacy.
