Armand Hammer, a business entrepreneur and philanthropist, died on 10 December 1990 at the age of 92. Born in New York City on 21 May 1898, Hammer was the son of a physician and developed an interest in medicine during his childhood. He attended Columbia University and obtained a university degree but chose not to pursue medicine. Instead, Hammer built a business empire by investing in oil, pharmaceuticals, and a range of other industries. He also contributed to various philanthropic causes, donating millions to organizations such as the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles and the Armand Hammer United World College of the American West. He became one of the most visible figures of the 20th century, traveling extensively and making political connections with leaders such as Lenin, Molotov, and Gorbachev. Hammer's legacy will be long-remembered for his business acumen and philanthropy.
