Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, a renowned French author, aviator, and war pilot, died on July 31, 1944 at the age of 44. Born on June 29, 1900 in Lyon, France, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was a beloved author of novels, children’s books, and other works inspired by his love for the sky and aerial travel. He was a renowned aviator and World War II pilot for the French air force, earning him the Cherioux Air Prize and The Cross of the War 1939-1945 Medal for his wartime accomplishments. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was best known for his novella “Le Petit Prince”, which has been translated into over 250 languages and was recently adapted to an animated film. His other works include “Vol de Nuit”, “Terre des Hommes”, and “Aeropostale”. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was survived by his wife, jarsesian author Consuelo Suncin de Sandoval-González, and his two grown sons,François and Jean-Claude. He is a loss felt deeply throughout France and the world.
