The world has lost a Hollywood legend today with the passing of Anthony Quinn, who passed away at his home in Boston, Massachusetts on June 3rd, 2001 at the age of 86. He was born on April 21st, 1915 to a Mexican father and an Irish mother in Chihuahua, Mexico. Quinn had a career that spanned over sixty years in a variety of roles, winning two Academy Awards for his performances in “Viva Zapata!” (1952) and “Lust for Life” (1956). He was also nominated for an Academy Award for “Wild is the Wind” (1957), as well as a BAFTA Award for “Lawrence of Arabia” (1962). In addition to his Hollywood career, Quinn was a prolific painter, sculptor, and author. He wrote two autobiographies, “One Man Tango” (1995) and “The Original Sin” (1998). Quinn is survived by his wife of 59 years, Katherine DeMille, their five children, and countless friends and fans around the world. He will be greatly missed.
