Anthony Eden, 79, passed away on January 14, 1977. He was a notable British politician who served as Prime Minister from 1955 to 1957. Over his career, he also held various other positions including Foreign Secretary from 1935 to 1955 and Leader of the Opposition from 1955 to 1957. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1954 and received the Order of Merit in 1961.
