She attended Erasmus Hall High School, where she developed an interest in writing and acting. She performed her own comedy material, which she had written alongside her then-boyfriend, Jerry Stiller. The two married in 1954 and had two children, Ben and Amy. Meara achieved great success in her comedy career, appearing on "The Ed Sullivan Show" from 1955-1962. In the early 70s, she completed Murphy Brown, Newhart, All in the Family, and King of Queens—for which she was nominated for two Emmy awards. She has acted in a countless number of plays, television shows, and films, including "Fame," "Awakenings," "Night at the Museum," and "Analyze That," among many others. Above all, Anne Meara was a warm and loving person who was deeply connected to her family. She will be remembered for her infectious laughter, and her performances that moved and inspired countless people. She will be dearly missed.
