On December 11, 2023, renowned actor and multiple award winner Andre Braugher passed away at the age of 61. Born in July of 1962 in Chicago, Illinois, Andre started his acting career in the mid-1980s after studying at Stanford University and Juilliard. Throughout his long career, Andre was consistently praised for his incredible dedication and range. He had the unique ability to take on roles ranging from serious, dramatic characters to comedic and endearing ones. His performances earned him several Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, with his eventual Emmy win for his performance of Captain Ray Holt in the TV show “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” being the highlight of his career. Andre also had memorable roles in a variety of other films and TV shows such as “Homicide: Life on the Street,” “Thief,” “Men of a Certain Age” and “Last Flag Flying.” Andre worked to the very end, having just completed his roles in the “benefactor” series, which will posthumously air early in the year. Andre Braugher will be remembered for his ability to craft and portray complex characters with elegance and grace. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fans alike.
