The Canadian actor and songwriter Alan Thicke has died of a heart attack at the age of 69 in Los Angeles, on December 13th, 2016. He was best known for his portrayal of Jason Seaver, the father and psychologist on the ABC TV series Growing Pains (1985-1992) and for writing theme songs for TV shows like Diff'rent Strokes and The Facts of Life. He had acting roles on shows such as The Simpsons, Hope and Gloria, How I Met Your Mother, and many more. He wrote and composed popular theme songs to iconic 70s shows The Ropers, Fernwood Tonight, and The Jokers Wild. He was married three times and had four children, including the singer Robin Thicke. He was an active humanitarian, a fan of politics, and an animal right’s activist. He was an avid golfer, and a skilled piano and guitar player. Thicke, who was born Allan Kenneth Jeffrey in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, had become a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2007. Thicke will be remembered for his good-natured humour and his willingness to intervene and help in difficult situations. He will be dearly missed by friends and family.
