On January 14, 2016, Alan Rickman passed away peacefully at the age of 69. He was a world-renowned British actor, who was recognized for his performances on stage, television and in film. Rickman was known for his iconic roles in films such as Die Hard, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and the Harry Potter series. His stand-out performances earned him numerous awards, including BAFTA Awards, an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award. He started his career as a stage actor and appeared in numerous plays in both the U.K. and the U.S., including "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" and "Private Lives." He also directed two plays and one film, "The Winter Guest" (1997). Born in Acton, West London, he attended Latymer Upper School and later the Royal College of Art. After college, he worked as a graphic designer before attending the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). Though he is gone, his legacy will live on for years to come.
