Boston, Massachusetts - Aaron Hernandez, former New England Patriots football star, died on April 19, 2017 at the age of 27. Hernandez was born in Bristol, Connecticut on November 6, 1989. He was a standout football player during his high school years and went on to play for the University of Florida Gators. In the 2010 NFL Draft, he was the 113th overall selection and was signed by the now-retired New England Patriots, with whom he played for three seasons. Hernandez's career was cut short by a variety of legal troubles, including extreme charges for the 2013 shooting related to his involvement in the Odin Lloyd murder. Later, these were followed by two life sentences in prison. Hernandez died on April 19, 2017 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Leominster, Massachusetts after reportedly taking his own life while held in prison. Hernandez leaves behind a daughter, Avielle Jane, born in 2012. He is also survived by his fiancée, Shayanna Jenkins, and his attorney, Jose Baez.
