Today, the world mourns the untimely passing of Joan Marie Laurer, better known to fans as Chyna. A wrestling legend, Chyna was born on December 27th, 1969, in Rochester, New York. Starting her career as a bodybuilder, Chyna rose to fame in the late 1990s when she joined the then-world-renowned World Wrestling Federation (WWF). With her prowess in the ring, Chyna quickly gained notoriety as WWF's "Ninth Wonder of the World." She was the first woman to ever enter the world-famous Royal Rumble Match, and she became the first woman ever to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Chyna's career in sports entertainment spanned over a decade, and even after leaving the WWE, she continued to fight for the rights for women in wrestling. Chyna had a true impact outside the ring as well, with her work in acting, music, philanthropy and sports entertainment. Chyna passed away on April 20th, 2016, at the age of 46. She will be dearly missed by her friends, family and fans.
